R&M Fixings & Supports Division are delighted to announce that they have been supplying quality fixings and supports material into industry for over a decade!
October see’s their 10th year anniversary in supplying first fix materials, electrical containment and support systems from some of Europe’s leading manufacturers to a variety of industries including Mechanical & Electrical Contractors, Air Conditioning Contractors, Plumbing, Heating & Ventilation Contractors and a large variety of industry professionals in-between.
Nick Dyer-Smith and Steve Cargill set up the company in October 2004 with the underlying goal to “make the procurement of Cable Management, Channel, Supports and First Fix Consumables competitively priced and straight forward with the promise that they will deliver all the materials ordered, to the location specified, on the day agreed and at the price agreed”.
R&M Fixings & Supports – Growth
This promise was well received and Fixings quickly outgrew their original premises, moving into their current location just one year later on the Central Trading Estate in the centre of Southampton, tripling their warehouse capabilities.
From these humble beginnings R&M Fixings & Supports have seen tremendous success over the 10 years they have been in existence, growing to occupy two adjacent units, employing 24 staff and exceeding £7.5 million turnover in their last financial year.
R&M Fixings & Supports – Services
From the original goal to supply first fix materials, electrical containment and support systems, the division have been aggressive in their approach to diversification, offering complimentary services to their customers which now include:
- Strut & threaded rod cutting service
- Pre-assembled trapezes
- Mounted distribution board assemblies for risers
- Pre-fabricated electrical risers
- Pre-fabricated modules
R&M Fixings & Supports – Projects
R&M Fixings & Supports have for a decade been involved in both small and large scale projects both within the UK and Internationally.
International Projects
Amongst the large international projects our Fixings team have supplied is the $800m Al Shaqab Equestrian Centre in Qatar where the provided £400k of containment products, the Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi and the New Police Academy in Dubai.
Data Centres
From the initial Data Centre supply in 2006 for JP Morgan – Basingstoke – the fixings team have subsequently supplied over 38 new build data centres in the UK. This success culminated in 2013 when the division supplied their first major data centre project in Belgium.
Pre-fabricated Modules
Fast on the heels of this success was the supply of Fixings first large module order, with over 214 modules being built and delivered in 12 weeks, involving a team of fixings fitters travelling overseas to fabricate the modules in-situ.
R&M Fixings & Supports – Innovation
New Products
Throughout the 10 years the division have been operating they have constantly striven to offer their customers overhead reductions by introducing new labour saving and cost effective products without compromising on the quality of the product.
Unifoot
They have also been instrumental in the design of new products including the Unifoot product range – an innovative invention designed as an economical and time saving way to mount building services on flat roofs.
Build A Bracket
Launched in 2013 and exclusively designed by the R&M Fixings & Supports team, Build A Bracket is a ground breaking on-line software package. The software gives users access to a free online design tool, allowing them to simply ascertain their fabrication requirements which can either be pre-fabricated or supplied by R&M for fabrication on-site. Build A Bracket covers strut and multiple bracket types including trapeze, Christmas tree and H-frame fabrications and provides the user with a quote and a CAD drawing within minutes.
