R&M Electrical Group’s Project Division have been awarded a multi-million dollar contract for a large LNG development based offshore in Western Australia. The project supply will be carried out in cooperation with our partners Wholesale Electric, based in the USA, and CNW in Australia.
The contract involves the supply of specialist electrical bulk materials including flameproof lighting and switchgear, stainless steel cable trays and ladders, cable cleats, cable transits, high voltage cable and other associated electrical equipment.
“This award represents a major success for our consortium, this project, probably the largest LNG facility ever constructed has been subject to massive global interest and we competed with suppliers from all corners of the globe. We are very proud to have secured this business at a time when contracts of this size are few and far between” – Andrew Chandler, Sales Director .
The Project will develop gas fields, located about 130 kilometres off the north-west coast of Western Australia. It includes the construction of a 15 million tonne per annum (MTPA) Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant on Barrow Island and a domestic gas plant to supply gas to Western Australia.
Barrow Island (where the LNG trains will be located ) is an internationally significant Class A nature reserve (home to many native endangered species) and the site of Australia’s largest onshore operating oil field for the past 45 years. As a world-class example of environmental management, it’s shown that conservation and development can successfully co-exist. Just 1.3 percent of uncleared land on the island will be used for the project.
