R&M are pleased to announce the promotion of Tim Coomer to the position of Group Finance Director.
Tim originally joined R&M as the group’s financial controller in May of 2013, and was promoted to his current position in April of this year.
Tim trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987 with a small practice. This was followed by a move to a “Top 50” practice where he was a Manager specialising in audit, tax and accounting services for SME clients.
In 1993 an emergent client, a UK distributor of data networking, telecommunications and broadcast products, “poached” Tim to be their Financial Controller.
This proved to be an exciting move as the Company flourished and the growth of the Company provided many challenges. In 1997 Tim become Finance Director.
In 2005 a chapter closed as Tim was instrumental in the negotiation and completion of a successful trade sale which gave the Company founder and majority shareholder his retirement exit.
Tim remained as Finance Director for the new Group. His role expanded further with the merger of the two back office functions being a major challenge. The combined entities resulted in the new business becoming the leading UK distributor with a 60% growth achieved in just three years.
At this time Tim also became involved with a small manufacturer of racking enclosures and cooling products which were part of the Group and was instrumental in their transformation from a loss maker to a Queens Award winning profitable business. Tim then successfully brokered a Management Buyout prior to leaving this business.

Tim is married with two sons, aged 5 and 7.
