Introduction

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the concept whereby organisations integrate social and environmental concerns into their business operations and into their interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis.

Operating in a responsible and sustainable manner is important to R&M Electrical Group Ltd. Whilst we run our business in line with the expectations of diverse global stakeholders, we also see corporate responsibility as a discipline that helps us to manage risks and maximise on the opportunities presented to us in a changing world. We take our corporate responsibility seriously across the Group as an employer, investor and a consumer.

Objectives

R&M aims to demonstrate our Corporate Social Responsibilities through our actions and within our corporate policies.

We are fully committed to the principle of CSR and intend that such responsibilities should become embedded, where appropriate, into our policies and practices, to the benefit of staff as well as the wider community.

R&M Electrical Group aims to be recognised as an international organisation that is transparent and ethical in all our dealings, whether with our suppliers, customers or our members of staff, and to make a positive contribution to the communities in which our divisions operate – both in the UK and overseas.

We are committed to following “Best Practise” standards in all aspects of our business, including those of fulfilling our Corporate Social Responsibility, with emphasis being given to:

R&M recognises that it has direct influence and responsibility over the following key impact areas and hence focuses its CSR activities on these areas:

Working Environment

R&M has built its reputation on the excellent service and expertise we are able to offer our customers, and we recognise that this is dependent on an engaged, talented workforce in all of the areas and countries we operate.

To this end, R&M focuses on promoting a supportive environment, where employees are encouraged to develop, with transparent policies and procedures in place to enable this to happen.

To facilitate the above R&M:

  • Operates an equal opportunities policy for all present and potential employees.
  • Provides safe guards to ensure that all employees are treated with respects and without sexual, physical or mental harassment.
  • Offers employees clear and fair terms of employment.
  • Provides resources to enable employees continued development.
  • Promotes from within the organisation (wherever possible).
  • Maintains forums for employee communication and consultation.
  • Communicates clear and transparent policies and procedures.

Ethics

R&M Electrical Group Ltd is committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity in our business activities in the UK and overseas.

R&M will not tolerate any form of bribery by, or of, our employees, agents or consultants or any person or body acting on our behalf. Senior management is committed to implementing effective measures to prevent, monitor and eliminate bribery.

R&M is committed to complying with the Bribery Act 2010 in our business activities in the UK and overseas, actively promoting our Ethics Policy and Anti-Bribery & Corruption Policy both internally and in all of our business dealings.

Health & Safety

R&M will provide, and strive to maintain, a clean, healthy and safe working environment. Senior management within R&M believes that this is not only a legal requirement, but a moral obligation promoting employee engagement throughout the organisation.

This belief is reflected throughout R&M’s policies and working practises, which are developed in consultation with employees throughout the hierarchy of the organisation.

Risk Management

R&M Electrical Group Ltd is subject to a variety of risks which could have a negative impact on its performance and financial position.

R&M operates an active risk management system, to ensure a high level of business performance whilst minimising and effectively managing risk throughout the group and our subsidiaries.

Responsibility for risk management lies with the Board of Directors, who manages internal controls and procedures to limit exposure.

Environment

R&M recognises the importance of understanding the impact of our activities on the environment, and in putting in place policies and procedures to reduce any negative effects such activities may have on the environment.

With this in mind, R&M have implemented an environmental management system which satisfies the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001:2015. The Environmental Programme covers all facets and impacts our activities has or potentially have on the environment, whether directly or indirectly, and specifies a management plan to reduce such impacts.

R&M will strive to improve our environmental performance through the implementation of sustainable development and environmental policies.

Community

R&M are committed to making a sustainable positive impact on the communities in which we operate. Our holistic approach includes;

  • Limiting and actively reducing environmental impacts
  • Encouraging and supporting employees engaged in fundraising activities for local charities
  • Supporting local charities at our worldwide locations
  • Promoting employment within our operating locals
  • Promoting and supporting local industry

Business Partnerships

Customers:

R&M prides itself on the quality of our products and the exceptional service we offer our customers. Our aim is for true customer satisfaction by understanding our client’s needs, developing partnerships and offering a bespoke solution for their requirements.

We up hold the values of honesty, partnership and fairness in all our business relationships, setting out clearly defined terms of business, operating in such a way that safeguards against unfair business practises.
R&M has a clearly defined complaints procedure that encompasses all aspects of grievances from external parties, including the recording, resolving, monitoring and any resulting procedural improvements.

Supply Chain:

R&M recognises the importance of the supply chain and we are committed to developing secure relationships based on mutual trust for mutual benefit.

R&M believes in working in partnership with our suppliers, ensuring the highest level of product and service is available to our customers at all times.

R&M operates an approved supplier data base to ensure we only actively work with those organisations that commit to, and believe in the same values as we ourselves do.

Existing Policies

Existing policies in some areas may already, at least in part, address the issues listed above. The Corporate Social Responsibility compliments these policies and is not intended to supersede them.

Responsibilities

Our Managing Director assumes ultimate accountability for R&M’s Corporate Social Responsibility and will, where reasonable, make the necessary resources available to realise the standards we attain to.

It is the responsibility of all employees to ensure the delivery of these values.
