Buzzard oil field is the largest oil field discovered in the North Sea in the past decade. Discovered in May 2001, Buzzard is located in the Outer Moray Firth, central North Sea, 100 kilometres northeast of Aberdeen and 55 kilometres from the nearest landfall at Peterhead. Buzzard development consisted of three bridge-linked steel platforms supporting facilities for drilling, production, and utilities and accommodation respectively.

R&M via it’s Projects Division, was awarded the supply of hazardous area distribution boards and temporary power transformers. During the execution of this order and because of the high level of service offered, R&M was asked to procure a number of associated products ranging from hazardous area sockets and isolators to switch room equipment including safety key cabinets. The truncated delivery requirement was a crucial element in the supply chain critical path. R&M’s support continued through to the completion of the onshore construction phase.
The success of R&M’s initial supply has meant a new supply contract has been awarded for electrical bulk materials intended for use on a fourth gas scrubbing platform.
