R&M’s Neyland branch would like to congratulate the Goodwick Brass Band for coming first in the National Championship of Great British (Second Section) on the 21st of September.
Based in Goodwick – West Wales – the band, sponsored by R&M Electrical Group, took on 18 of the country’s finest Brass Bands to win this prestigious competition.
Originally founded in the early part of the 20th Century, the band disbanded temporarily in 1935 and was reinvented in 1986, and has gone from strength to strength since that date, with the most recent achievement being the pinnacle of the 2013 calendar.
The 29 piece band competed at Cheltenham Racecourse, producing an exceptional performance of Kenneth Downie’s Purcell Variations, and were further honoured for their achievement by Pembrokeshire County Council at a reception earlier this month.
Goodwicks Brass Band personally thanked R&M for their support for this event:
“On behalf of the band I would like thank both yourself and R&M electrical for the kind sponsorship that you provided. Such a weekend is not cheap as there are 30 members of the band (plus officials).
Once again many thanks.” Jonathan Crimmins on behalf of Goodwick Brass Band.
R&M looks forward to the band achieving great things in 2014, when they will be competing in the National First Section – after being promoted earlier this year.
