R&M CASE STUDIES

LED Lighting for ex-racehorses charity, Heros

HEROS was set up in 2006 with charitable status by the current CEO and founder Grace Muir.

The aim of the charity is to ensure former racehorse have a future when their racing careers are over, by matching them with suitable new owners. Currently Heros have re-homed over 300 ex-racehorses.

Upon receiving a grant to light their riding arena the charity Heros (Homing Ex-Racehorses Organisation Scheme) based in Oxon, approached R&M’s Lighting Division to help them with the best light source and product selection.

R&M’s qualified lighting design engineer – Ben Dewey – visited the site to discuss Heros’s requirements and was able to give advice on the type of products they would need to maximise the potential in the space, whilst ensuring both their ecological and economical concerns were addressed.

Based on the initial discussions and a detailed site visit Ben was able to recommend LED products for the area, and included in the service offered full design and schematic drawings and energy usage reports.

“Having spoken to the CEO and founder of HEROS I knew that because of its charitable status the main challenge would be to offer quality product, that would supply lighting with low energy consumption, was not harmful to the environment but would offer very good lighting levels for the arena to address any health and safety concerns. The LED product from Dialight and Dorset LED Lighting we supplied ticked all of the boxes!”

…final installation is fantastic and far exceeded our expectations. If we have any more lighting to do on the farm in future we would without question call upon R&M …
