FIRE AND WATER – A LETHAL COMBINATION FOR CABLES?
Not for the Firebar™ range of Cables!
Designed to retain its electrical operation after being subjected to fire and the damaging effects of fire fighting water equipment, the Firebar™ range of Cables (tested at the Warrington Fire Global Safety laboratories) has been proven to function after re-burning already fire damaged cable to 1000°C and then subjecting it to full submersion in water!
Further testing has also been carried out allowing for a single cable to be burnt at 100°C for in excess of four hours whilst sustaining mechanical shocks every 30 seconds, whilst also being ‘drenched’ by a ‘water spray’ device providing 1.2 litres of water per M² per second, again electrical functionality is retained.
Originally designed for the Offshore, Drilling and Marine environments, certification is awaiting final approval for Onshore environments for use in Oil and Gas Refineries/Storage Units – certification is expected imminently.

R&M Cables entered a team for the WaterAid charity 5 a side tournament organised by Nomenca for Wessex Water.
Despite the blatant use of a number of “ringers” R&M Cables clearly did not utilise the same calibre ringer as the other teams – who on examination had a large number of local semi-pros playing for them! (It was rumoured that one player had been on Chelsea’s books!).

The H07RN-F/H07RNF is an extremely flexible rubber cable, specifically designed for use in extreme weather conditions and under high mechanical and thermal stresses.
Its oil, grease and water resistant sheath makes it ideal for use in power transmission applications, both in fixed installation or mobile portable equipment, and has a higher service temperature than standard H07RN-F, with a voltage rating of 1kV.

R&M Cables Division have successfully completed a major supply to a UK based company who have developed a ‘low operating cost’ power station.
The Power station is designed to be ‘flat-packed’ and shipped for assembly on site.
The first of this unique type of power station is destined for Mauretania, – North Africa. The plant runs on Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) which is the most affordable liquid fuel available, a critical factor for use in developing countries, with the estimated savings for operation (compared to conventional fuels) in the range of $11million per annum.
