R&M are pleased to confirm that all of their delivery drivers have now passed and obtains CSCS Green Cards from the Construction Skills Council Scheme.

Set up to help the construction industry to improve quality and reduce accidents, the CSCS card shows that the holder is considered to be competent at his or her job, lists any relevant certificate/qualifications and also shows that they have passed health and safety tests.

CSCS has become the industry standard competency card scheme for construction. Most major trade associations, professional institutions, clients and contractors support the Scheme because it provides a simple way for construction workers, supervisors and managers to prove their competence in a consistent manner –an estimated 80% of sites within the UK requiring workers to hold a CSCS card.

“We are committed to the CSCS Scheme for all of our personnel who deliver to, or visit our client’s construction sites in the UK. The Scheme enables us to ensure both the competence of our employees and their understanding of construction Health & Safety requirements. Many of our clients insist that all workers on their sites hold CSCS cards to ensure high levels of competency and health and safety standards – R&M Fixings firmly support them in this stance, with such investment in our employees expected to reap long term benefits for both R&M and for the individual themselves”. Comments Steve Cargill (Director)

R&M Fixings and Supports Director – Steve Cargill – is taking on the gigantic challenge of joining the “Saints Big Bike Challenge” on the 9th of April next year (Easter Monday), involving a 85 cycle ride from St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton, to Selhurst Park – the home of Crystal Palace, to coincide with a 3pm kick off!

“As anyone who knows me will tell you, I am not world renowned for my fitness regime! But being a life-long supporter of Saints this cause is one that is very close to my heart and I am really looking forward to the challenge – saddle sores and all! I am looking to raise a whopping £1,000, so any donations, large or small are gratefully received through my Just Giving page” Steve Cargill (Director).

The cycle ride is in support of registered charities “The Saints Foundation” and their official partner “Help the Hospices”. Funds raised will directly support the operational costs of the Saints Education Centre, set up by the Saints Foundation to improve the education of young people in Southampton through literacy, numeracy and IT syllabus which supports the National Curriculum.

Funds raised will also support local hospices; Naomi House and the Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity. From Physiotherapy and pain relief to a listening ear and home cooked meal, your local hospice does whatever it can to help seriously ill young people and adults in the local area to live well until they die. Hospice care is free for everyone who needs it, but is not free to provide.

Saints Foundation Ambassador Iwan Thomas is fully behind the event; “I would recommend the Big Bike Challenge as a great way to get fit and raise funds for three worthwhile causes. I’m aware of the great work of Saints Foundation and the two local Hospices make a huge impact to people’s lives at a difficult time for those involved. Good luck to everyone who takes part and let’s raise plenty of money!”

The Domus Radial duct system is a revolutionary whole house air distribution system suitable for most property types and a wide variety of applications.

• The radial duct system is a clever plug and play application using a manifold (air distribution box) to service up to 12 rooms and semi-rigid duct running to each individual room. It can be used with either Mechanical Extract or Heat Recovery Ventilation options.

• The chosen ventilation system connects to the manifold through a single inlet spigot

• The manifold acts as an air distribution unit, each outlet supplying a different room ensuring an even airflow

• Flexible, semi-rigid plastic ducting is securely connected to the outlet and runs directly to each room

• The outlet plenum enables the fixing of a standard air valve connector

Suitable for use in new build or refurbishment projects and with a powerful in line fan or Heat Recovery unit, this system ensures a simple, quick and hassle free installation which saves time and money. The easy push fit joints and less fixings ensure no air leakage and the single duct run to each room results in significantly less cross talk noise for the homeowner.
