With the onset of the Olympic Games in less than 6 weeks R&M aim to keep disruption to normal delivery services to the very minimum.

Unless you have been living in a time capsule you can’t help but realise that the Olympic Games are heading our way in less than 6 weeks’ time – from the 25^th July to the 12^th of August, and from the 29^th of August to the 9^th of September. 

R&M recognises that inevitably this will cause some disruption in the areas affected, however our logistical planning team’s aim is to ensure that this will be kept to the very minimum.

 R&M have been in communication with their customers over the past month to ensure that those in the vicinity of the most popular venues are able to forward plan deliveries to avoid having to deliver during the affected months as much as possible.  Where this is not possible R&M in close association with its customers are offering a flexible delivery service with regards to timings and venues in an attempt to cover all eventualities, and will keep its customers informed at all times of any potential problems that may arise.

 “The Olympic Games are a bit of an unknown quantity as to how much disruption we will experience with regards to deliveries, we understand that access will be possible to the affected areas during the games however we have a contingency plan we are able to fall back on involving out of hours and evening deliveries if the situation arises.  Our aim is to carry on “business as usual” during this period” Dave Caunt – R&M’s Logistics Manager.

The brand new, state-of-the-art hospital will be changing the healthcare for many lives in the Bristol area.

Carillion are working with the Bristol NHS on the £430m project, which is due for completion in 2014 and will be one of the most environmentally-friendly buildings in the country.

One of the major benefits of this new hospital is the end of the traditional wards, being replaced by single rooms with en-suite facilities and four-bed wards. The upgrading to single rooms will greatly improve privacy and help considerably to control the spread of infections.

 It will have low energy consumption, halving the current amount of energy the hospital use per one hundred cubic metres.

The wards will be naturally ventilated and eastward facing, which means they will take the warm morning sun to heat the room and prevent the afternoon sun overheating the room. This will significantly reduce the amount of energy needed to cool the rooms.

Set up to help the construction industry to improve quality and reduce accidents, the CSCS card shows that the holder is considered to be competent at his or her job, lists any relevant certificate/qualifications and also shows that they have passed  health and safety tests.

CSCS has become the industry standard competency card scheme for construction. Most major trade associations, professional institutions, clients and contractors support the Scheme because it provides a simple way for construction workers, supervisors and managers to prove their competence in a consistent manner –an estimated 80% of sites within the UK requiring workers to hold a CSCS card.
