SHARQ, Ethylene Expansion

Sharq, which is also known as the Eastern Petrochemical Company, was established in 1981. In 2004 the board of Saudi Arabia’s Sabic announced that it had approved an investment of $6.4 billion for the expansion of its petrochemical capacity. The Sharq expansion project is a joint venture between Sabic and the Saudi Petroleum Development Company. The Sharq expansion project will add a total capacity of 2.8 million tpa to Sabic’s total output and at the same time enhance Sharq’s position as the world’s single largest producer of ethylene glycol.

Peru LNG

R&M’s Projects Division along with our joint venture partner in the states Wholesale Electric were awarded supply contracts for both instrument and electrical bulks. The global alliance allows us to deliver enhanced business results to our clients by maximizing the effectiveness of both ours and our partners resources on a global level.

PERU LNG consists of two parts:

  1. A liquefied natural gas plant that includes a marine loading terminal from which liquefied natural gas will be transported.
  2. A gas supply pipeline connected to the existing TgP pipeline downstream of the rainforest section that transports the gas from this connection point to the LNG Plant located between Cañete and Chincha.

E-M Field Development, South Africa

E-M Gas Field, Mossel BayThe E-M gas fields are situated 120km south-west of South Africa’s Mossel Bay. This development consisted of three new production wells, tied back by a 450mm (18in) pipeline to Mossgas’ production platform, on the FA field 49km east of the fields. The fields themselves were discovered in 1984 and lie in the Bredasdorp Basin.

Langeled Gas Reception Plant

Langeled Gas Reception PlantThe Langeled pipeline is the world’s longest underwater pipeline. The pipeline, which was built for Norsk Hydro brings Norwegian natural gas to the UK. Stretching 1,200 km from the Nyhamna terminal in Norway via the Sleipner Riser platform in the North Sea to Easington, England, the pipeline will eventually carry 70 million cubic metres per day. That equates to some 20% of Britain’s gas supply.

Kashagan Experimental Project, Kazakhstan

Kashagan Oil Field, KazakhstanThe Kashagan Field is an oil field located in Kazakhstan. The field is situated in the northern part of the Caspian sea close to the Kazakhstan city of Atyrau. The field was discovered in 2000 and is operated by Eni under the North Caspian Sea Production Sharing Agreement.

In Salah Gas, Algeria

In Salah Gas, AlgeriaIn Salah Gas is the largest dry gas joint-venture project in the country. The venture involves the development of seven proven gas fields in the southern Sahara, 1,200km south of Algiers. The field is being developed by In Salah Gas, a 50:50 joint venture between BP and state energy company Sonatrach. Ultimately, In Salah Gas aims to supply 9 billion m3/y of gas to the southern European market. A component part of the project will include the facility to remove CO2 from the gas produced, followed by large-scale reinjection into an underground formation.

Fawley Refinery, UK

Fawley RefineryThe Esso refinery at Fawley on Southampton Water is the largest in the UK and one of the most complex in Europe. Situated on Southampton Water, it has a modern marine terminal that handles around 2,000 ship movements and 22 million tonnes of crude oil and other products every year. The refinery processes some 300,000 barrels of crude oil a day and supplies around 14 per cent of all petroleum products in the UK.

Liquified Natural Gas Terminal, Chile

LNG Import TerminalIn June 07 the British Gas Group agreed to supply Chile’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Quintero Bay. The $775 million engineering, procurement and construction contract was consequently awarded to CB&I. The 2.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) terminal in Quintero Bay – approximately 110 kilometres northwest of Santiago – will have the capacity to meet up to 40 percent of the country’s demand for natural gas.

Channel Tunnel Rail Link

Channel Tunnel Rail LinkFull UK Government approval was granted in 1996 for the two sections of the 69-mile (108km) high-speed Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL). This project means that speeds of up to 186mph can be achieved (300km/hr) making the journey time from London’s Waterloo International station to Paris, Lille and Brussels up to 20 minutes quicker.

Buzzard Oil Field, North Sea

Buzzard Oil Field, North SeaBuzzard oil field is the largest oil field discovered in the North Sea in the past decade. Discovered in May 2001, Buzzard is located in the Outer Moray Firth, central North Sea, 100 kilometres northeast of Aberdeen and 55 kilometres from the nearest landfall at Peterhead. Buzzard development consisted of three bridge-linked steel platforms supporting facilities for drilling, production, and utilities and accommodation respectively.
