Since our founding in 1987 R&M have become one of the largest independently owned Electrical Distributors in the UK. We now have a network of branches across England and Wales dedicated to distributing electrical products and services.
Our Southampton branch is our largest, and focuses on serving the industrial, petrochemical and marine areas of our work. We also run an extensive and ongoing supply contract with Exxon Mobil at their Fawley refinery.
The Portsmouth yard provides services to the Royal Navy and onsite contractors, as well as supplying externally to a local customer base.
We have one branch, Ringwood, whose operations are contractor and trade counter focussed, while Swansea and Neyland focus on products designed for hazardous areas and industrial control- with Neyland serving many of the oil refineries in South Wales.
R&M have developed an exceptional knowledge of each of the markets we serve. This requires building outstanding relationships with the companies that supply us and the products they produce. Each of our UK based stores holds a range of relevant stock from different manufacturers. This gives us an edge when serving clients, as well as helping us to achieve much greater supply chain flexibility.
We have focused on particular product areas, covering primarily the sale and supply of commercial, industrial, marine and hazardous area electrical equipment and related products and materials.
We have worked hard to train and maintain a skilled and dedicated workforce, from a knowledgeable and helpful sales team to diligent and well prepared installation engineers.
R&M is a proud member of ANEW, the biggest membership organisation for electrical wholesalers in the UK, and this gives our clients cost benefits as well as peace of mind.
As just one example of how our strength in a particular field has benefitted both our suppliers and our clients, we run a dedicated in-house Assembly/Engineering Division in Southampton, licensed to drill and populate Ceag Crouse-Hinds Hazardous Area and Industrial Junction Boxes including the assembly of distribution boards, control stations and trailing leads. For more information about our Hazardous area work, be sure to look at the Hazardous Area part of the website.
